Sana'a: The Development and Cooperative Work Management and Implementation Team in the Capital Sana'a, led by Capital Mayor and Chairman of the Team Dr. Hammoud Ubad, convened its inaugural periodic meeting with multi-purpose cooperative societies from all governorates and pertinent offices within the Capital.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by Capital First Undersecretary Khaled Al-Madani, focused on evaluating the outcomes and suggestions from the Development Team's workshop and analyzing the results of the program of field meetings and discussions with cooperative societies across the Capital's districts.
Dr. Ubad highlighted the need for increased effort and collaboration to elevate the performance and capabilities of cooperative societies. He urged leaders to fulfill their duties in developing cooperative and developmental initiatives, mobilizing resources, and implementing high-quality programs across various sectors.
He also emphasized the importance of economic empowerment projects, supporting productive families, and marketing local products to achieve sustainable development and self-sufficiency across sectors.
Dr. Ubad further discussed the crucial role cooperative societies play in building a resilient developmental and economic society, seeing them as foundational to developmental efforts and as significant partners in community and economic development.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Kebsi, Chairman of the General Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises, reaffirmed the commitment to bolstering partnerships with the Capital Sana'a, aiming to enhance the capabilities of cooperative societies and provide training to their leaders and staff.
Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, the deputy of the Development and Cooperative Work Management and Implementation Team, presented a detailed report on the workshop outcomes and the findings from field meetings with cooperative societies over the past two weeks. These gatherings involved district directors, mobilization officials, and heads and members of cooperative societies' administrative and supervisory boards.
He explained that these meetings are part of the Development Team's strategy to assess the current status of cooperative societies, review their projects and funding portfolios, identify challenges, and explore ways to improve their performance and enhance their role in local development and economic empowerment programs.
