Al-Dhale’: The Health and Environment Office in Al-Dhale’ province, in cooperation with the National Center for Health and Population Education and Information, organized a course focused on community response and participation in strengthening capacities for disease prevention.
According to Yemen News Agency, the course, supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), gathered 25 opinion leaders from Damt district. It aimed to foster community involvement in promoting awareness, behavior change, and preventive methods against prevalent diseases such as acute watery diarrhea, measles, malaria, diphtheria, and dengue.
Ismail Al-Hatwar, director of the province’s information office, emphasized the course’s significance in expanding community awareness about epidemic dangers and prevention methods. He highlighted the necessity of comprehensive awareness programs and utilizing media, mosque pulpits, and community meetings to protect families and society.
Naji Qarhash, Director of Health Education and Information, underscored the importance of risk communication and correcting wrong behaviors. He advocated for sectoral and community coordination, emphasizing the roles of preachers, media, and local authorities in promoting behaviors that prevent disease and limit their spread.
