Hajjah: The Health and Environment Office in Hajjah Province, in cooperation with the National Center for Health and Population Education and Information, organized a course focused on community response and participation to enhance disease prevention capacities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the course was conducted with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and included the participation of 25 opinion leaders from the province. It aimed to activate community involvement in promoting awareness and preventive measures against diseases such as acute watery diarrhea, measles, malaria, and various infections.
At the course’s opening, attended by province deputies Mohammed Al-Qadi and Adel Shali, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, director of the health office, encouraged participants to apply the course outcomes in practice. He emphasized raising awareness about the community’s role in promoting disease prevention.
Dr. Khalid Jamal, coordinator of the malaria control program, and Mohammed Al-Adbaie, director of health education and information, highlighted the importance of risk communication and community participation. They also addressed the need for correcting wrong behaviors and ensuring sectoral and community coordination.
Dr. Fayez Al-Faqih, Director of Planning at the National Center for Health Education and Information, underscored the necessity for interventions from relevant authorities to enhance prevention capabilities.
