Sana'a: A cultural evening was held at the Central Correctional Facility in Sana'a Governorate to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
According to Yemen News Agency, the event was attended by Amin Mujal, an education sector official in Sana'a New District. It focused on the importance of using Mawlid activities to raise social awareness, particularly among inmates, and promote values of justice, compassion, responsibility, and solidarity.
Deputy Director of the facility, Captain Yahya Mahmoud, emphasized the need to translate lessons from the Prophet's life into practices and behaviors that strengthen social cohesion. Cultural activist Fares Al-Mutri highlighted that commemorating the Prophet's birthday provides an opportunity to strengthen attachment to Prophet Muhammad, follow his example and teachings, and draw inspiration from values of patience, sacrifice, steadfastness, and sincerity in serving society.
He noted that the broad public participation in Mawlid activities reflects Yemenis' deep love for the Prophet and commitment to his life and teachings, calling for active participation in related events, particularly among inmates. Several inmates also delivered speeches highlighting the religious and educational significance of the occasion, under the supervision of the Rehabilitation and Correction Authority at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
They emphasized the importance of adhering to the Prophet's guidance and values, embodying compassion, justice, patience, dignity, and sacrifice in daily life in ways that contribute to social cohesion and public service.
