Damt: Residents of the Al-Midama, Al-Markazi, Amer, Al-Mawasilat, Al-Ma'arshi, and Al-Nahda neighborhoods in Damt District, Al-Dhale' Governorate, organized cultural evenings today to commemorate the Prophet's Birthday (Mawlid al-Nabi), emphasizing the occasion's role in reinforcing Islamic values and community solidarity.
According to Yemen News Agency, the events featured speeches, poetry, and religious performances highlighting the Prophet's legacy of justice, compassion, and resilience. Speakers stressed that celebrating the Mawlid embodies Yemen's unwavering devotion to the Prophet's teachings, serving as a spiritual anchor amid ongoing regional conflicts. They noted that such events counter Western cultural influences seeking to undermine Islamic identity.
The speeches linked the Mawlid to Yemen's broader struggle against foreign aggression, framing the celebrations as a "strong slap" to adversaries and a declaration of loyalty to the Prophet's path. Participants echoed support for Palestinian resistance, condemning Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
Attendees were urged to participate in the central celebration scheduled for 12 Rabi' al-Awwal at the "Grand Prophet Square" in Damt, expected to draw massive crowds from across the governorate. The event will feature folk performances, chants, and speeches by religious leaders.
