Sana'a: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, along with its affiliated bodies and agencies, organized a speech event to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Zaid ibn Ali. The event, held with support from the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund, featured an address by Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali al-Yafei, who highlighted the significance of this anniversary in fostering the ideals of sacrifice and jihad for the sake of God.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. al-Yafei underscored the importance of emulating the morals and virtues of Imam Zaid and following his path of faith and jihad to elevate the banner of Islam and support the oppressed. He emphasized Imam Zaid's courage in confronting deviations and tyrants of his time, drawing parallels to the current situation in Gaza, which he described as an extension of historical tyranny.
The Minister urged everyone to shoulder their religious and historical responsibilities, following Imam Zaid's example and the guidance of the Prophet's family in supporting truth and the oppressed. He explained that commemorating Imam Zaid's martyrdom renews allegiance to God and reinforces the principles of jihad and resistance.
Dr. al-Yafei clarified that Imam Zaid's revolution was not about sectarianism but aimed to correct distortions and address deviations caused by the Umayyad rulers' practices. He highlighted the moral and ethical standards set by the Prophet's family and figures like Imam Zaid, who were martyred for their commitment to justice and truth.
The Minister reviewed the foundational principles of Imam Zaid's revolution, which continued the legacy of Imam Hussein. He noted that attempts to obscure Imam Zaid's legacy serve enemy schemes to weaken Islam and sow discord among Muslims.
Cultural activist Osama Al-Mahtouri, also present at the event, discussed Imam Zaid's life, knowledge, and struggle against tyranny. He emphasized the lessons of sacrifice and bravery to be drawn from Imam Zaid's martyrdom, highlighting his revolt against oppression and his pursuit of justice.
