Sana'a Customs and Control Office in coordination with the Supreme Authority for Medicines and the concerned authorities has destroyed a large amount of seized, smuggled and expired medicines.
1, 060 cartons, six parcels and 212 packets of 90 items of seized medicines, whether smuggled, expired or not authorized to enter Yemen were destroyed.
Deputy Director General of Sana'a Customs and Control Office Mohammed Aziz said that the destruction process was carried out in accordance with the laws, regulations and procedures in force and as required by the public interest.
Aziz stated that the destruction of the quantity took place at al-Azraqeen dump after the expiry of the legal period for the presence of the items in the office's warehouses and according to the actual inventory of the warehouses issued by the customs police department.
Aziz stressed that the office will not tolerate in taking strict measures to prevent the entry of smuggled, expired and unauthorized goods in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens
