Sana’a: The Development and Sports Center for Deaf Girls held a graduation ceremony today at the Balqis Club Hall in the capital Sana’a for the sixth batch of trainees, under the slogan ‘With our resilience, we persevere despite challenges.’
According to Yemen News Agency, a total of 100 deaf trainees participated in six-month training programs in dressmaking and tailoring, bag sewing, library management and secretarial work, and food processing, aimed at preparing them to enter the labor market and launch small-scale projects.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Nabih Ali, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to empowering and integrating people with disabilities into community development. He noted that these training programs are part of the ministry’s strategy to strengthen social partnership and promote professional and developmental inclusion of special-needs groups.
He praised the Development and Sports Center for Deaf Girls as a model that combines vocational, athletic, and social empowerment – transforming potential energy into productive capacity that supports national development.
For her part, Deputy Minister Hanaa Al-Alawi emphasized the ministry’s focus on empowering women and persons with disabilities through capacity-building and skill development programs. She added that the success achieved today reflects collaboration between the ministry, the Youth and Childhood Care Fund, and Al-Amal Microfinance Bank.
Center Director Folla Al-Qubati highlighted the support provided by the ministry and its partners, which enabled the success of the programs and allowed participants to demonstrate their talents and skills, reinforcing the center’s commitment to professional and social empowerment.
Trainer Ruqayya Al-Bakari stated that the courses offered an opportunity to refine the trainees’ abilities and prepare them to start small, income-generating projects.
The event featured creative artistic performances and multimedia presentations and concluded with the honoring of graduates, trainers, and supporting institutions.
