Deputy Foreign Minister Engages with UN Envoy Office Director on Yemen Affairs

Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdulwahid Abu Ras met with Mohammed Al-Ghannam, Director of the Office of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen. The meeting focused on the cooperation between the Ministry and the Special Envoy's Office, alongside the latest developments in Yemen.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed condemnation of the UN Secretary-General's statement concerning the detained UN employees accused of espionage. He claimed that authorities have conclusive evidence of World Food Programme and UNICEF employees' involvement in espionage, which allegedly targeted the Prime Minister and other government officials.

Abu Ras called for international organizations in Yemen to comply with their mandates, the Yemeni Constitution, and national laws. He emphasized the government's intention to review agreements with these organizations to safeguard Yemen's security and stability.

The Deputy Foreign Minister urged the UN Special Envoy to actively engage in the peace process and apply pressure on aggressor nations to cease actions that harm Yemeni interests and worsen humanitarian conditions. He highlighted the necessity for steps that foster trust and a supportive environment for peace.

Mohammed Al-Ghannam reiterated the UN's dedication to pursuing peace efforts in Yemen, aligning with the aspirations of the Yemeni people for a comprehensive resolution.
