Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Da'is, inaugurated the Design and Handicrafts Exhibition for female students from public and private universities and community colleges. The event was organized by the Higher Education Sector, in cooperation with the Modern Technology College of the Orphan Development Foundation.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Al-Da'is, accompanied by Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, toured the exhibition, which is part of a three-day design and handicraft competition aimed at encouraging creativity, innovation, and the marketing of students' handmade and artistic products.
Abdul Karim Al-Dhahhak, Director of Activities in the Higher Education Sector, and Dr. Khaled Al-Masajidi, Dean of the Modern Technology College, briefed them on the competition, which includes participants from 15 public and private universities and community colleges. The initiative seeks to motivate students to showcase their talents in design, applied arts, and craftsmanship.
The deputy minister and undersecretary emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in supporting applied education, enhancing students' creative and practical skills, and linking their outputs with the job market.
During the opening, they praised the exhibition's handmade works, fashion designs, and sewing projects produced by participating students.
Later, Dr. Al-Da'is and Dr. Luqman inspected the production workshops of the Orphan Development Foundation, including carpentry, blacksmithing, tailoring, and embroidery units. They stressed the need for future coordination between the Foundation and the Ministry to help meet schools' needs for classroom furniture, uniforms, and other locally produced items.
