Sana'a: The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Nabeh Nasser, today honored the winners of the inaugural Ramadan tournament for residential neighborhood teams in the Cubs and Sprouts categories, organized by the 22 May Cultural and Social Club, for the Martyr Mohammed Al-Ghamari Cup.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ahfad Bilal team emerged as champions in the Cubs category after defeating the Al-Sinwar team with three clean goals in the final match. The event was attended by several notable figures, including the First Undersecretary of the Secretariat, Khaled Al-Madani, and the Deputy Head of the Zakat Authority, Ali Al-Saqqaf, who also serves as the President of the 22 May Club.
In the Sprouts category, the Ittihad Shu'ub team claimed victory over the Al-Waha team with a score of two clean goals. The Deputy Minister praised the 22 May Club for its continued efforts in conducting sports activities throughout the year, highlighting the significance of the Ramadan tournament for the Martyr Mohammed Al-Ghamari Cup.
Deputy Head of the Zakat Authority, Al-Saqqaf, emphasized the importance of recognizing the winners as a culmination of the month-long tournament, which saw participation from 42 teams in both categories. He also encouraged young athletes to engage in the upcoming summer activities, which will feature a mix of sports, social, and cultural events.
At the close of the tournament, officials presented the championship cup and gold medals to the Ahfad Bilal team in the Cubs category and silver medals to the runner-up Al-Sinwar team. Player Mohammed Al-Jamal from Ahfad Bilal was awarded the top scorer cup, while Muntadhar Ghalab from Al-Sinwar received the best player cup.
In the Sprouts category, the Ittihad Shu'ub team was awarded the championship cup and gold medals, with the Al-Waha team receiving silver medals. The Al-Nasr team was recognized with the ideal team cup, while Hamir Al-Kaboudi from Al-Nasr and Marwan Al-Sawadi from the 22 May team received accolades as top scorer and best player, respectively.
