Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports Launches Republic Championship for Elite Gymnastics

Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Nabeh Ali, inaugurated today at the Martyr Hassan Zaid Hall in Sana'a the competitions of the Republic Championship for Elite Gymnastics in the categories of "Juniors, Youth, and Seniors." The event marks a significant effort to promote athletic activities and cultivate young talent in the region.

According to Yemen News Agency, the championship is organized by the General Union of the Sport, under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and with the support of the Care Fund for Youth and Sports. A total of fifty-eight athletes from the Capital Secretariat, the governorates of Aden, Al Hodeidah, Amran, Dhamar, and Ibb, as well as the Olympic Club, are participating in the four-day championship. These athletes will showcase their skills in both the Individual All-Around and Team systems, competing on various gymnastic apparatuses including Floor Exercise, Vault, Parallel Bars, Pommel Horse, and Rings.

During the opening ceremony, which was attended by several key figures, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that the organization of this championship is part of the Ministry's broader strategy to revitalize sports and cultural activities. This strategy aims to engage 31 sports unions during the current season, thus fostering the development of players' capabilities and expanding the participation base across numerous sports.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that gymnastics plays a crucial role in developing essential skills such as balance, flexibility, and strength among youth. These skills form a foundational base for preparing qualified athletes in various other sports disciplines. Sponsoring sports, he noted, represents a strategic investment in harnessing youth energies, strengthening national identity, and enhancing Yemen's presence in both local and international competitions.

The event's inauguration, attended by multiple dignitaries, included demonstrative segments showcasing gymnastic arts by the participants, further setting the stage for a successful championship.
