San'a: The Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in the Capital Secretariat has successfully destroyed 126 tons and 110 kilograms of expired foodstuffs deemed unfit for human consumption.
According to Yemen News Agency, Majed Al-Sadah, the Director of the Office of Economy and Industry in the Secretariat, stated that the destruction was conducted in accordance with legal procedures during January. The process was overseen by a representative from the Public Prosecution.
Al-Sadah elaborated that the items destroyed included juices, legumes, cheeses, yogurt, syringes, and other materials. These items were seized by field committees assigned by the office and its branches during inspection campaigns targeting markets and commercial shops.
He emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance field monitoring of markets and commercial outlets throughout all districts of the Capital Secretariat. Al-Sadah stressed the importance of addressing violations and protecting consumers, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
