Dhamar Governor Reviews Progress on Rainwater Harvesting Project in Jahran

Dhamar: Dhamar Governor Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti inspected the progress of the rainwater harvesting tank project in the Tafdal area of Jahran District. The governor emphasized the importance of completing the project swiftly before the rainy season begins.

According to Yemen News Agency, Governor Al-Bukhaiti praised the ongoing efforts and highlighted the necessity of implementing similar groundwater recharge projects. He stressed the need for rationalizing water usage to secure water resources for future generations. The governor also mentioned local policies that require well-drilling licenses to be tied to groundwater recharge projects, with licenses limited to agricultural initiatives focused on food production.

Engineer Haitham Al-Ashram, Director of the Water Resources Authority branch, and Dr. Nabil Al-Areeq, Project Consultant, reported that the project is currently 70% complete. This initiative is part of four projects across various governorates, with a total capacity of 185,000 cubic meters and a budget of 165 million riyals. The funding comes from both the Authority and the community.

The governor was joined by several officials and engineers as part of the ongoing oversight of development projects within the governorate.
