Dhamar: The branch of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities in Dhamar governorate organized a speech event on Monday to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, highlighting the values of sacrifice, justice, steadfastness, and resistance to oppression.
According to Yemen News Agency, Deputy Head of the Culture Sector in Dhamar governorate, Ali al-Aoush, described the commemoration of Imam Hussein's martyrdom as an important religious and cultural occasion for drawing inspiration from the principles of dignity, honor, and standing against injustice and tyranny. Al-Aoush emphasized that Imam Hussein's uprising was not driven by a desire for power or personal gain but was motivated by a commitment to reforming the Muslim community and upholding righteousness.
Al-Aoush noted that Hussein's stand embodied the ideals of freedom, justice, and human dignity. He added that the Karbala uprising established a model of resistance to oppression and corruption, reinforcing a culture of rejecting submission to tyrants. According to Al-Aoush, Imam Hussein's refusal to accept humiliation continues to inspire advocates of justice across generations.
The official stressed that commemorating the occasion helps reinforce the values of sacrifice, steadfastness, and commitment to principles. It also promotes awareness of the importance of confronting domination and injustice. He highlighted the need for the Muslim nation to draw lessons from Karbala amid ongoing challenges.
Al-Aoush called for adherence to the values of truth, justice, and freedom for which Imam Hussein sacrificed, emphasizing their role in building a cohesive and aware society rooted in its religious and cultural identity.
Dhamar City Guidance Official Mohammed Al-Dawla described the anniversary as a spiritual and educational occasion for reflecting on Imam Hussein's historic stand against oppression. He emphasized the importance of renewing commitment to the values of sacrifice and perseverance.
Al-Dawla mentioned that the events of Karbala exposed deep divisions and deviations within the Muslim community, with effects still felt today. He described Imam Hussein's stance as a lesson in rejecting tyranny and defending justice, citing his declaration, 'Humiliation is far from us,' as a symbol of steadfastness.
Al-Dawla further linked the lessons of Karbala to contemporary issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, arguing that supporting oppressed peoples is a religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility. He added that the Yemeni people have drawn inspiration from Imam Hussein's teachings in upholding dignity and resisting domination, which has influenced their support for the Palestinian cause.
