Sanaa: The Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Ali Taysir, met on Tuesday with Zaid Al-Gharsi, Chairman of the Call of Dignity Center for Rights and Development, to discuss areas of cooperation and coordination of efforts on human rights and humanitarian issues.
According to Yemen News Agency, Taysir emphasized that the Commission prioritizes supporting civil society organizations, considering them a key partner in protecting and promoting human rights, particularly in the context of the aggression and comprehensive siege imposed on Yemen. He noted that these issues receive attention and follow-up from the revolutionary and political leadership, as well as the government, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting human rights work and strengthening protection and justice mechanisms.
Taysir also reaffirmed the Commission's dedication to supporting effective organizations and empowering them to serve humanitarian causes, especially amid the current challenges posed by the ongoing aggression and blockade. He explained that the National Human Rights Commission is preparing to hold a second meeting with civil society organizations to develop a unified roadmap for human rights work under the current conditions and to enhance joint coordination to ensure the quality of monitoring and documentation efforts.
For his part, Al-Gharsi outlined the role of the Call of Dignity Center, presenting the Center's strategy to balance rights monitoring with developmental empowerment, following a human rights-oriented approach aimed at raising legal and rights awareness and promoting a culture of human rights in society. He also highlighted preparations for the upcoming report titled 'A Decade of Occupation,' which documents various violations in the occupied areas, stressing the importance of producing the report professionally to reflect the extent of the violations and support advocacy and justice efforts.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to prepare and sign a memorandum of understanding between the Commission and the Center, aimed at strengthening institutional partnership and enhancing cooperation in human rights and humanitarian work.
