Discussion on Implementation of Boycott of U.S. Goods, Products

Sana'a: The Main Boycott Committee convened today under the chairmanship of Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Sam Al-Bishiri, to review the level of implementation of the decision to boycott U.S. goods and products.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority, Ibrahim Mahdi, Director General of the Yemen Standards and Metrology Authority, Abdullah Al-Atifi, and Head of the Public-Private Coordination Committee, Muhannad Al-Shami, along with representatives from the pharmaceutical sector, the Chamber of Commerce in Sana'a, and other relevant bodies.

Al-Bishiri praised the high level of compliance with the boycott, noting its widespread public support and alignment with the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership. The ministry is preparing joint plans with the Ministry of Information to raise public awareness about the boycott through a comprehensive media campaign. Efforts will also focus on supporting local products, home-based producers, and small and micro enterprises.

Al-Bishiri emphasized that importers adhering to the boycott will receive facilities and incentives, including assistance in finding alternative products while maintaining their market shares. The committee instructed the preparation of a second list of brands and products to be boycotted in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 10 of 2025, and stressed the need for a detailed matrix to monitor implementation levels based on previous meeting decisions.

The meeting reviewed and approved the minutes of the previous session and discussed field visits to ensure proper implementation of the boycott and to collect observations for corrective action. The session underscored the government's commitment to enforcing the boycott while supporting domestic industry and protecting market stability.
