Discussion on Implementing Recommendations of Committee Assigned to Field Visits to Prisons in Capital Secretariat


Sana’a: A meeting was held on Saturday in the Capital Secretariat to discuss the mechanism for implementing the recommendations of the committee assigned by the Grievances Authority regarding field visits to the prisons of the Capital Secretariat, the North and South Appeal Prosecutorates of the Secretariat, and their affiliated prosecutor offices.



According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee in the Capital Secretariat, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, the Chief Judge of the North Appeal Prosecutorate of the Secretariat, Ahmed Abu Mansour, the Director of Security of the Secretariat, Major General Muammar Harash, and the Planning Sector Officer of the Secretariat, Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf al-Din. The participants reviewed the procedures related to implementing the committee’s recommendations aimed at addressing the conditions and needs of the prisons. This is in line with the directives of the Secretariat’s leadership and based on the guidance of the President of the Supreme Political Council and the Cabinet.



The meeting, attended by the Director of the Social and Labor Affairs Office, Nasser Al-Kahli, and Deputy Security Directors, Brigadier Generals Ahmed Al-Hashimi and Abdulaziz Al-Qudsi, discussed a number of recommendations, including expanding and maintaining the prisons, providing essential services to inmates, and ensuring dignified and humane living conditions. These requirements were prioritized for support.



The recommendations emphasized the importance of providing healthcare to all sick inmates and supplying the necessary medications, especially for patients with chronic illnesses. They also called for providing medical staff and establishing clinics within the prisons in accordance with the current conditions.



Additionally, the recommendations stressed the need to provide clothing for inmates and to transfer juveniles to specialized care centers.



It was agreed during the meeting to begin field visits to the prisons and detention centers in the Capital Secretariat starting next week, and to prepare a schedule of visit activities by the concerned authorities.
