Dr. Bin Habtoor Highlights Cybersecurity as a Tool of Global Conflict at Symposium

Sanaa: Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, a member of the Supreme Political Council, emphasized the growing significance of cybersecurity as a tool in international confrontations, especially among major global powers. This statement was made during his participation in a scientific symposium organized by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Center for Information Technology in Higher Education, under the title “Cybersecurity – Concepts, Risks and Prevention Methods.”

According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. bin Habtoor urged institutions to not only discuss the risks associated with cybersecurity but also to work within their capacities to establish general rules that promote understanding and adaptation to developments in this field. He highlighted the crucial role of the private sector in education, encouraging continuous support to complement governmental efforts.

Dr. bin Habtoor stated the importance of laying a proper and integrated foundation for the future, which requires a comprehensive approach to mobilizing society’s energies and active forces. He praised Yemeni universities for their resilience and ability to maintain academic standards despite ongoing challenges, such as aggression and blockades.

He also commended the organization of the funeral of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyid Hashim Safi al-dine in Beirut, noting Hezbollah’s effective management of the event. He criticized the hostile rhetoric from Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which included spreading false information about the Yemeni delegation’s participation in the funeral.

The symposium, attended by Dr. Ibrahim Luqman and other leaders from the Ministry of Education, included a call by Dr. Fuad Abdul Razak for enhanced cooperation and coordination within the Ministry’s sectors. The event, moderated by Dr. Khalil Al-Wajih, also featured presentations by Dr. Abdullah Rashid and Dr. Abdulwase Al-Ezzani, who discussed cybersecurity concepts, information security threats, challenges, and protection methods.
