Dhamar: The Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring Center in Dhamar province recorded today a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in the eastern Gulf of Aden at 2:15 PM local time.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center confirmed this quake is among the strong seismic activities regularly recorded in the Gulf of Aden region. The center's specialists are closely monitoring seismic developments both within Yemeni territory and neighboring regions.
Additional seismic activity has been reported in the region. In Ethiopia, five earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 3.7 to 4.5 were recorded between last midnight and Friday morning. In the Red Sea, a mild 2.7 magnitude quake was noted. The Carlsberg Ridge experienced two quakes with magnitudes of 4.8 and 4.9 at 7:51 AM and 9:21 AM respectively.
