Sanaa:The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment has initiated expansive inspection campaigns, commencing on Sunday, to oversee bakeries and sales outlets in the capital as well as other provinces. The initiative aims to ensure adherence to official bread prices, weights, and the mandated flour extraction rate of 86%.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry has specified that prices are set at 450 rials per kilogram for traditional bakeries and 400 rials for automated bakeries, with each loaf required to weigh at least 45 grams, or five loaves for 100 rials.
The ministry's regional offices, alongside joint supervisory committees, will oversee compliance to safeguard both consumers and bakery owners from violations and exploitation. Acting Minister Sam Al-Bashiri emphasized that legal measures would be pursued against any field inspectors caught engaging in extortion or embezzlement.
