Taiz:The Entisaf Organization for Women's and Children's Rights has strongly condemned the attack on a civilian home in the Al-Ma'afir District of Taiz Governorate, which resulted in the deaths of three women and an elderly man, and injuries to three other civilians.
According to Yemen News Agency, the organization stated that the attack, attributed to the Saudi enemy, represents a grave violation of the rules protecting civilians. The incident underscores the prohibition under international humanitarian law against directing attacks on civilian populations and objects. Article 51 of Additional Protocol I emphasizes the general protection of civilians, while special protection is afforded to women, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
The organization warned about the ongoing Saudi aggression and the 12-year siege on Yemen, which continues to threaten civilian lives and exacerbate humanitarian conditions, particularly for women. It reported that over six thousand women have been killed or injured since the conflict began.
Entisaf demanded accountability for these grave violations of international humanitarian law, stressing that perpetrators should not evade punishment. The organization also called for the protection of civilians and civilian objects, adherence to the principles of distinction and proportionality, and the provision of urgent medical care to the injured. It emphasized the rights of victims' families to truth, justice, and reparation.
Furthermore, the organization renewed its appeal to the United Nations and international human rights bodies to document these crimes and other violations affecting Yemeni civilians, urging legal action against the Saudi aggression and its mercenaries.
The Entisaf Organization highlighted that civilian casualties are not just statistics, asserting that protecting women, children, the elderly, and all civilians is an unequivocal legal and moral duty.
