Brussels: European stocks ended trading at their highest level in two months, supported by gains in the aviation, defense, and financial sectors.

According to Yemen News Agency, the European STOXX 600 index closed up by 0.6%, marking its strongest daily performance in two weeks. In the London Stock Exchange, Admiral shares hit a record high, rising 6.6% after the company announced strong profits for the first half of the year.

Aviva shares also rose by 2.6% to their highest level since December 2007. Meanwhile, shares of Dutch payment company Adyen fell 4.9% after it lowered its annual revenue forecast.

Embracer shares plummeted by 23.4% to the bottom of the STOXX 600 index, posting their worst daily performance since May 2023. This decline came after the video game company reported first-quarter operating profits and annual earnings expectations that fell well short of market forecasts.

FLSmidth shares were the top gainers on the STOXX 600 index today, surging 6.7% after the Danish mining and cement technology company announced its second-quarter results and updated its annual outlook.
