London: European stocks extended gains on Wednesday as investors capitalized on recent market weakness, shrugged off threats of new US tariffs, and assessed a mixed set of corporate results. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.30 percent, or 1.64 points, to 543.04 in morning trading, marking its third consecutive session of gains after hitting a five-week low on Friday.

According to Yemen News Agency, the German DAX index increased by 0.54 percent, or 127.63 points, reaching 23,973.70, while the French CAC 40 index climbed 0.42 percent, or 32.18 points, to 7,653.22. Commerzbank shares saw an increase of nearly 1 percent following the German bank's report of better-than-expected quarterly net profit and an upward revision of some of its full-year forecasts.

Siemens Energy projected confidence in meeting its top-line growth forecast for 2025, resulting in a 1.2 percent rise in its shares. In contrast, the Swiss FTSE 100 experienced a slight decline of 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, European healthcare stocks saw a dip of 0.7 percent, affected by a 1.3 percent decrease in Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk's shares after the company maintained its full-year outlook, despite having recently lowered its 2025 sales forecast.
