Sana'a: 21 September University of Medical and Applied Sciences in Sana'a organized a lecture event to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Badr under the slogan 'The Day of Al-Furqan.' The event was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Deputy of the Higher Education Sector, and featured remarks by the university president, Dr. Mujahid Ma'sar. Dr. Ma'sar emphasized the importance of commemorating the Battle of Badr to draw lessons and insights from the struggles of Muslims against disbelief, polytheism, tyranny, and global arrogance.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Ma'sar highlighted the significance of the Battle of Badr in Islamic history, noting that it was the first decisive battle where Muslims, under the leadership of the Prophet Mohammed, achieved victory despite being outnumbered and less equipped compared to the Quraysh. He stressed the importance of linking the Battle of Badr to the current struggle between the 'axis of good and resistance' and the 'axis of evil, disbelief, and polytheism.' He affirmed that the victory at Badr was crucial for strengthening the foundations of Islam.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Administration and Cultural Advisor to the university, explained that the Battle of Badr represents a pivotal confrontation between truth and falsehood in Islamic history. He detailed how the Qur'an describes the battle and the Prophet's strategic military planning, as well as the commitment of his companions.
Cultural activist Yahya Abu Awadah highlighted the lessons learned from the Battle of Badr, which took place on the seventeenth of Ramadan in the second year of Hijrah. He noted that victory in the battle was determined by faith, careful planning, and trust in Allah's promise, rather than numbers or weaponry. Abu Awadah also stressed the importance of material preparation alongside reliance on Allah, explaining the necessity of practical measures and thorough preparation.
He further discussed the divine support granted to Muslims at Badr, leading to a clear victory over disbelief and falsehood. He encouraged making the most of Ramadan through good deeds and reflecting on the Qur'an, noting that the Battle of Badr remains an enduring lesson for achieving victory in life.
