Sana’a: An expanded meeting was held on Monday in the capital, Sana’a, bringing together local and educational leaders to review the general plan programs as part of the launch of the 1448 AH academic year under the slogan: ‘Education is Everyone’s Responsibility.’
According to Yemen News Agency, during the meeting, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi emphasized the importance of the gathering at a time when Yemen is facing major challenges, which requires collective efforts from local authorities, the education sector in the capital and provinces, and the ministry to develop and ensure the success of the educational process. He praised the efforts of the leadership and staff of the local authority in the capital Sana’a, highlighting their role in mobilizing resources and encouraging community participation to support the education sector.
Al-Saadi called on all stakeholders to uphold responsibility and unify official, popular, community initiatives, and private sector efforts, stressing the need for serious engagement to thwart attempts by Yemen’s adversaries to undermine education. He also highlighted the role of teachers and education workers in improving performance, ensuring the stability of education, and supporting students in their academic journey. He further urged school principals and education offices to take into account people’s living conditions and work to address any issues, calling for responsible conduct that helps alleviate citizens’ suffering due to aggression and blockade.
For his part, the Capital Secretary-General, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, affirmed that this broad meeting of educational and local leaders aims to support and ensure the success of the educational process, especially amid attempts to disrupt the education sector. He praised the resilience and role of teachers in what he described as the educational front, noting that they have continued the teaching process despite the hardships and challenges imposed by the aggression and blockade on the Yemeni people. Abbad explained that the capital Sana’a places its hopes on educational cadres and is working to mobilize efforts to ensure the success of the education process, considering them the cornerstone of educational development.
In the meeting, attended by First Undersecretary of the Capital Secretariat Khaled Al-Madani, Adviser to the Ministry of Education Hammoud Sharaf Al-Din stressed the importance of studying field realities and developing effective educational plans, with attention to identity and curricula that reflect leadership aspirations in confronting challenges and meeting the needs of the educational process. He also highlighted the importance of community cooperation as a partner in ensuring the success of education under the current circumstances, commending ongoing efforts to advance the education sector.
Meanwhile, the head of the education sector in the capital, Abdulqader Al-Mahdi, emphasized that the meeting comes as part of preparations for the new academic year to embody the slogan ‘Education is Everyone’s Responsibility’ and strengthen community partnership at neighborhood and district levels to overcome challenges. He also praised the role of local leadership in supporting education, overcoming challenges, and assisting teachers in the field to create a conducive learning environment and counter efforts aimed at undermining the education system and depriving new generations of proper learning.
Al-Mahdi reviewed several programs and activities included in the general plan for the 1448 AH academic year, along with implementation mechanisms, stressing the need for collective engagement and cooperation between official and community actors to support the plan and achieve its objectives. He also commended the role of educational leaders in advancing educational institutions and their resilience, calling for genuine partnership through activating parent councils and strengthening their role in improving both public and private schools.
