FAO Warns of Unprecedented Humanitarian and Agricultural Catastrophe in Gaza Strip

General

Gaza City: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has warned of an unprecedented humanitarian and agricultural catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the organization confirmed in its annual report that less than 5% of agricultural land remains suitable for cultivation. This drastic reduction follows the destruction of more than 80% of cultivated areas due to the ongoing conflict in the region.

The report highlights the complete devastation of approximately 70% of agricultural greenhouses. Additionally, the majority of wells have been damaged, severely restricting access to water and contributing to a near-total collapse of the local production system within the agricultural sector.
