Sana'a: The Amran branch of the Yemen General Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control carried out a field inspection campaign on Thursday targeting vehicle gas filling stations. The campaign is part of the organization's ongoing efforts to protect consumers, verify the accuracy of measuring devices, and ensure that gas stations comply with approved standards and technical requirements.
According to Yemen News Agency, Branch Director Eng. Amin Al-Hadhiq said technical inspection and calibration teams conducted routine measurements and inspections at gas filling stations to verify the safety and accuracy of measuring equipment, ensuring consumers receive the actual quantity they pay for while promoting fairness and transparency in commercial transactions.
He noted that the campaign resulted in the referral of 15 gas filling stations to the Violations Prosecution after inspectors detected a number of violations related to measurement requirements and compliance with the regulations governing the operation of gas filling stations. He stressed that the branch is committed to taking legal action against violators to protect consumer rights and ensure adherence to applicable standards, metrology regulations, and laws.
Al-Hadhiq added that the branch will continue implementing its inspection activities and programs under the organization's 2026 annual plan to strengthen market oversight, regulate measuring instruments, promote quality and transparency, and safeguard consumer rights.
