Sana'a: The final stage of the Second Division Basketball League (Group One - Sana'a Cluster) is slated to commence tomorrow evening at the Al-Ahli Club Hall in Sana'a, continuing through May 24.
According to Yemen News Agency, the clubs May 22, Shaab Ibb, and Al-Hilal Al-Hodeida are set to compete for the coveted qualifying spot to the First Division. The competition will follow a single round-robin format to determine the group leader and the advancing team.
The opening match on Wednesday promises a compelling encounter between May 22 and Al-Hilal. The following day, Shaab Ibb will face Al-Hilal, with the cluster's matches concluding on Saturday with a game between Shaab Ibb and May 22.
The teams reached the final stage (Sana'a Cluster) after securing victories in their respective first-round matches. Shaab Ibb overcame Talia' Taiz in both home and away games, Al-Hilal Al-Hodeida advanced on aggregate after winning the away match against Shabab Al-Jeel, and May 22 triumphed over Shabab Al-Mahwit and Al-Ahmadi Rada'.
Concurrently, the second group's final stage (Seiyun Cluster) of the Second Division League is scheduled to begin on Thursday, featuring Talia' Lahj, Wahdat Tarim, and Tadamon Al-Mukalla.
Jamal Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Basketball Federation, expressed anticipation for more intense matches in the second stage, as each group's leader will directly qualify for the First Division. A subsequent match will determine the Second Division champion.
Ibrahim highlighted that upon completing the Second Division League, 80% of the federation's plan for the 2024-2025 season will be executed. The remaining 20% includes the Republic Cup, following the national junior team's participation in the West Asia Championship in July, alongside Yemen's involvement in the Arab Championship and the
