Sana'a: The Ministry of Finance, along with the Tax and Customs Authorities, held a speech event today to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). At the event, Finance Minister Abduljabbar Ahmed highlighted the significance of commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad and the importance the occasion holds for Muslims.
According to Yemen News Agency, the celebration reflects the Yemeni people's love and attachment to the Prophet, as well as their commitment to following his path and example in confronting what he described as the enemies of Islam and supporting the oppressed. The finance minister said this year's commemoration coincides with what he described as Yemen's victories and efforts to enable the Yemeni people to benefit from the country's resources and wealth.
He also paid tribute to the former prime minister and ministers who were killed around this time last year, saying Yemen had thwarted enemy plans and achieved what he described as major victories against the United States and Israel. Ahmed directed specialists at the Ministry of Finance to accelerate the completion of salary payments for government employees over the next two days, coinciding with the Prophet's Birthday celebrations.
He also called for broad participation in the central Prophet's Birthday festival scheduled to be held at Al-Sabeen Square in Sana'a on 12 Rabi' al-Awwal. For his part, Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authorities Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi said the Yemeni people are celebrating the occasion with love, reverence, and respect for the Prophet Muhammad.
He described the commemoration as an expression of gratitude for God's blessing and a renewal of loyalty to the Prophet, while criticizing what he described as efforts to diminish his status among Muslims and distance them from his teachings. Mahdi said the Muslim world's failure to support the Palestinian people and confront what he described as threats from Israel stems from turning away from the Holy Quran and from following the Prophet's guidance.
He reviewed historical events surrounding the Prophet's birth and emphasized the need for Muslims to renew their relationship with the Holy Quran through adherence and guidance, and with the Prophet through emulation and following his example. Mahdi also highlighted jihad as a prominent aspect of the Prophet's life and reaffirmed Yemen's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and maintaining what he described as its stance against Israel, the United States, and their allies.
Deputy Chairman of the General Authority of Endowments and Guidance Sheikh Fouad Naji stressed the importance of commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad and drawing lessons from his life and example. He called for translating the values and lessons of the Prophet's life into practical conduct, particularly a sense of responsibility and commitment to fulfilling the trust placed upon the nation.
Naji also highlighted the role of the Ministry of Finance amid what he described as the battle to lift the siege, end the aggression, and restore the country's resources, saying the struggle would continue until rights, freedom, independence, and the country's resources are restored.
