Gaza: The Palestinian resistance marked a significant achievement as the first phase of the prisoner exchange agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Zionist occupation was successfully concluded. Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners were released in exchange for the bodies of four occupation prisoners.
According to Yemen News Agency, the emotions among the families of the Palestinian prisoners were beyond words as they awaited the return of their loved ones after years in captivity. The anticipation began on Wednesday evening and continued to build until the moment of freedom arrived.
The release of this substantial number of prisoners, including children and women, highlighted the resistance’s capability to secure victories in diverse ways. The story of Nael Barghouti, who spent fifty years in occupation prisons, exemplifies the significance of this act. Barghouti, released as part of the “Freedom Flood” deal, embodied the resilience and spirit of the Palestinian resistance. His words after release emphasized the broader goal of liberating the nation, not just individual prisoners.
Barghouti’s poignant statement, “The resistance project is to liberate a nation, not just to liberate prisoners,” resonated deeply as he expressed gratitude to the Palestinian resistance. Ahmed Al-Qudra, Director of the Prisoners’ Media Office, declared the day a new chapter of glory for those who have endured the trials of captivity. Similarly, Ammar Al-Zaben, a Qassam fighter released in the Al-Aqsa Flood deal, praised the sacrifices of the Palestinian people and reaffirmed that Gaza’s struggles will not be in vain.
The agreement’s implementation over several weeks underscored the resistance’s commitment to its pledges, contrasting with the occupation’s attempts to obstruct and delay the process. The resistance’s adherence to its principles was highlighted, standing in stark contrast to the occupation’s broken promises.
The condition of the released Palestinian prisoners, weakened by their experiences in Israeli prisons, underscored the harshness of the occupation.
