Sana’a: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met on Saturday with the Coordination of African Communities in Yemen, which includes the Sudanese, Eritrean, Djiboutian, Ethiopian, and Somali communities. During the meeting, Minister Amer listened to an explanation from the Coordination of African Communities about the problems facing the members of these communities in Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Amer emphasized that the African communities in Yemen are considered guests in their second country, highlighting the historical depth and social ties between Yemen and Africa. He requested the leaders of the Refugee Coordination to submit detailed reports to facilitate the issuance of urgent instructions aimed at resolving the outstanding problems.
Members of the Coordination of African Communities expressed their appreciation to the Yemeni leadership and people for their hospitality, despite the challenging situation Yemen is facing. They voiced their concerns about the evasion of responsibility by international organizations working in the field of asylum and migration, particularly towards asylum seekers and refugees. They also emphasized the importance of reactivating voluntary repatriation programs and resettlement in a third country.
