Sana’a: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met on Tuesday with human rights activists from the Republic of Chile, including the international coordinator of the Human Defense Network, Dr. Pablo Allende, and the head of the Raul Humanitarian Foundation, Dr. Roberto Bermudez.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Amer welcomed the activists and emphasized the ongoing struggle against oppression and American imperialism. He highlighted concerns about the current U.S. administration and its threats to global peace, drawing parallels to past imperialist actions. Amer expressed fears about potential displacement of millions of Palestinians from Gaza, likening it to a new form of genocide.
Minister Amer reiterated that Islam fundamentally opposes injustice and oppression, noting that early Muslims stood against such acts. He commended Sana’a, under the leadership of Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, for directly confronting the United States and Zionist forces. He also mentioned that the continued economic blockade on Yemen is a tactic to undermine the spirit of resistance, which he believes will only strengthen Yemeni resolve and support for their leadership.
Dr. Allende and Dr. Bermudez shared their reasons for visiting Yemen, expressing solidarity with the Yemeni people and their government against the decade-long blockade. They were briefed on the dire health situation, which has led to the deaths of many children due to inadequate health services caused by the blockade. The activists argued that the economic blockade poses a greater threat than conventional and even nuclear weapons.
