Sana'a: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer and Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Ali Al-Shibani engaged in a crucial meeting today with Abdullah Al-Wardat, Director of Partnerships with Donor Countries at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome and High-Level Envoy to Yemen. This meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakel.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Amer welcomed Envoy Al-Wardat, emphasizing the facilitation efforts extended by the Foreign Ministry towards the WFP's Sana'a office in the past. However, he pointed out that the office had encountered self-inflicted challenges by not adhering to previous agreements. Amer reiterated the government's dedication to ensuring that the WFP's operations in Yemen comply with recognized standards and resolving existing issues to mitigate the humanitarian challenges caused by ongoing aggression and blockades.
Health Minister Al-Shibani expressed concerns over a recent decline in strategic partnership with the WFP, despite acknowledging its essential role in life-saving projects across Yemen's diverse governorates. He stressed the importance of revitalizing this partnership to enhance humanitarian efforts in the region.
Deputy Minister Al-Mutawakel discussed the obstacles faced in the relationship with the WFP's Sana'a office, affirming the Foreign Ministry's willingness to engage in discussions to resolve outstanding matters and fortify cooperation.
Envoy Al-Wardat assured that his mission remains strictly humanitarian and devoid of political motives. He is tasked by the WFP leadership to collaborate with Yemeni authorities to address all pending issues, with the overarching aim of serving the Yemeni population effectively.
