Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced the departure of the Russian sailor who had been detained for his presence on board the ship "Eternity C," which was flying the Liberian flag and heading to the occupied port of Umm al-Rashrash in July 2025. His departure paves the way for his return to Russia.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry explained that this step was taken following communications with the Russian side and with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Ministry indicated that the Russian citizen was transported via a United Nations plane, in coordination with the UN envoy. It noted that the sailor had been receiving medical treatment in Sana'a, and his departure was decided upon after the completion of his treatment and recovery.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the flight also included the return of a number of stranded and sick individuals from abroad, in addition to the travel of a number of stranded and sick individuals from within Yemen.
