Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Meets with Head of Spanish MSF Mission at End of His Term

Sanaa: Ismail Al-Mutawakkil, Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with Denis Habassa, Head of the Spanish Doctors Without Borders (MSF) mission in Yemen, on the occasion of the completion of his tenure. Al-Mutawakkil praised the efforts of the Spanish MSF mission over the past period and the urgent medical services and humanitarian interventions it provided.

According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Mutawakkil affirmed the Ministry's commitment to facilitating the mission's work and supporting the incoming acting head to perform their humanitarian tasks effectively. He stressed the importance of MSF continuing its role to fill the gap resulting from the failure of some UN agencies to meet their obligations toward the Yemeni people, emphasizing the Ministry's interest in strengthening partnerships with humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.

For his part, outgoing mission head Habassa expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for the support and cooperation extended during his tenure, confirming MSF's commitment to continuing its humanitarian and medical work in Yemen in line with the principles of neutrality and independence.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry's Directors of Monitoring and Evaluation and International Organizations, Ali Al-Kuhlani and Turki Jamil, as well as MSF Emergency Programs Manager Denis Obori and Mission Chief Adviser Mohammed Al-Sayaghi.
