Free Cataract Surgery Camp Launches in Ibb

Sana'a: Governor of Ibb Abdulwahid Salah on Wednesday inaugurated al-Noor Free Eye Medical Camp at al-Thawra Hospital, providing free cataract surgeries and lens implants for the underprivileged. Governor Abdulwahid Salah launched the camp at al-Thawra Teaching Hospital in Ibb, supported by global donors and al-Nibras Health Foundation.

According to Yemen News Agency, the camp aims to provide cataract surgeries and eye exams to 3,000 people, with 300 surgeries planned over four days. Governor Salah highlighted the importance of such initiatives in alleviating suffering, especially for low-income families, and emphasized the need for more specialized medical camps.

Member of the Shura Council, Nabil al-Hubaishi, praised the camp's role in combating blindness, while Dr. Mohamed Amer from the hospital stressed the camp's efforts to make eye surgery accessible to those unable to afford private hospital costs.
