Sana'a: The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums organized a symposium focused on "Underwater Antiquities in Yemen" in recognition of the International Day for Underwater Cultural Heritage, observed annually on August 21st. The event aimed to shed light on Yemen's rich underwater cultural assets.
According to Yemen News Agency, Muammar Al-Amiri, who serves as the Director General of the Department of Underwater Antiquities at the Authority, delivered a presentation during the symposium. His paper emphasized the significance of underwater cultural heritage and detailed Yemen's strategic geographical position. This location has historically served as a crucial link between various regions of the ancient world, facilitating the growth of trade and maritime activities across vital waterways such as the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
