General Authority for Antiquities & Museums Releases New List of Looted Yemeni Artifacts

Sana'a: The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums has published a new list of looted Yemeni antiquities, revealing a total of 43 pieces currently displayed in auctions and foreign museums.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority's statement highlighted that the list categorizes the items into four main groups. The first group consists of artifacts that were seized in Germany in 2013 and subsequently reported to the authority. The second group includes items with unknown origins and unclear fates due to insufficient data.

The third group comprises artifacts that are part of private collections, which have been referenced in specialized academic research. The fourth group includes items displayed in auctions and foreign museums. This newly released list marks the 29th such compilation by the authority, aimed at monitoring and tracking Yemeni antiquities exhibited abroad.

The authority urged international bodies to cease such auctions, citing violations of international laws, and emphasized the need to restore these cultural assets to their rightful owners.
