Sanaa: The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums published Friday a new list of looted Yemeni antiquities. In a statement, the Authority explained that the list includes 26 looted Yemeni artifacts currently being traded in international auctions, foreign museums, and private collections.
According to Yemen News Agency, the list contains several groups of looted Yemeni artifacts, seven of which were offered for sale during December. The list also includes an artifact that was part of the collection of a former French diplomat and minister.
The statement noted that this is the 30th list issued by the Authority to monitor and track Yemeni artifacts offered for sale in auctions and museums abroad. The Authority called upon relevant international bodies to halt the auctions, given their violation of international laws pertaining to this matter, and to restore the rights to their rightful owners. It also urged anyone with information about looted antiquities and sites to contact the Authority via the designated form on its website.
