Sana'a: Several government offices and executive units in Ibb governorate organized a speech and cultural event to commemorate Ashura, marking the death of Imam Hussein under the slogan, "Far from us is humiliation."
According to Yemen News Agency, the event was organized by the Agriculture Sector, the Geological Survey Office, the Standards and Quality Control Office, and executive units responsible for road construction, public facilities, and financing agricultural and fisheries projects.
Speaking on behalf of the local authority and the governorate's general mobilization body, Yahya Al-Qasimi described Ashura as a pivotal moment in Islamic history that offers lessons in patience, steadfastness, and resilience in confronting oppression. Al-Qasimi said Imam Hussein sought to reform the Muslim community rather than pursue power, and argued that his stand against injustice remains a model to follow. He also called on attendees to respond to the leadership's appeal to increase preparedness and support efforts aimed at ending what he described as aggression and the blockade.
Geological Survey Office Director Adnan al-Qadi said commemorating Ashura strengthens a sense of responsibility and resolve in confronting challenges. He urged participants to draw lessons from Imam Hussein's life and uphold the principles for which he sacrificed. Meanwhile, Mohammed al-Qadri, director of the Executive Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives, highlighted Imam Hussein's legacy of resisting oppression and rejecting submission. He described the Husayni movement as a symbol of the triumph of justice over injustice and said it continues to inspire resistance to tyranny. These remarks reflected the speakers' views expressed during the event.
