Sanaa: The Tax, Culture, and Finance offices, along with the executive units for qat sales tax and real estate tax in Ibb governorate, held a speech and cultural event on Tuesday to commemorate Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein under the slogan, "Far from Us Is Humiliation."
According to Yemen News Agency, Ibb Tax Office Director Mueen al-Shalif described Imam Hussein as a model of sacrifice, courage, and devotion, saying his life, legacy, and uprising against injustice continue to offer important lessons. He highlighted that Imam Hussein sought to restore the Muslim community to the correct path.
Al-Shalif emphasized that the commemoration of Ashura represents a significant chapter in Islamic history due to its association with resistance to tyranny. He called for following Imam Hussein's example, noting that he sacrificed his life in fulfilling the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil. Al-Shalif also addressed the challenges facing Yemen, advocating for support of leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi's initiatives to raise preparedness, expand public mobilization, and strengthen efforts to reclaim rights and end aggression and blockade.
Abdulhakim Moqbel, the governorate's cultural sector official, stated that Yemen's commemoration of the occasion reflects its loyalty and attachment to Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. He stressed the importance of drawing lessons from Imam Hussein's martyrdom to enhance resilience and steadfastness in confronting aggression and its plots.
The director of the governorate's Finance Office described the anniversary as an opportunity to reinforce religious values and Yemen's faith-based identity. He urged the translation of principles and values associated with Imam Hussein's revolution into practical efforts in development and public service.
