Governor of Hodeidah Honors Winners of Martyr Al-Ghumari, Martyr Al-Muayyad Football Tournaments

Hodeidah: The Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Atifi, today honored the winners of the Martyr Major General Mohammed Al-Ghumari and Martyr Abu Zaid Al-Muayyad football tournaments for the youth and junior categories in Al-Mina District. The tournaments were organized by the Youth and Sports Office under the patronage of the local authority and general mobilization in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, in the final match for the youth category, 26 teams competed in a knockout system. The "Shabab Al-Maseera" team secured the championship title by defeating the "Samad Shamsan" team in a penalty shootout with a score of 3/2, following a draw in regular time. The "Samad Shamsan" team took second place.

In the junior category, the "Numur Falasteen" team emerged victorious after overcoming the "Hitteen" team in a penalty shootout with a score of 2/1, after a goalless draw during regular play.

During the honoring ceremony, attended by Emad Al-Barai, Director of the Youth and Sports Office, Governor Atifi expressed the local authority's commitment to supporting the sports and youth sector. He emphasized the importance of activities aimed at developing and fortifying youth capabilities.

Governor Atifi acknowledged the organization and audience participation, which he noted as a testament to the community's unity and resilience. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing and supporting bodies for the success of the tournament, which commemorates martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

The ceremony concluded with the Governor and the Director of the Youth Office awarding the "Shabab Al-Maseera" team with the championship cup and gold medals. The "Samad Shamsan" team received the runner-up cup and silver medals. The "Numur Falasteen" team was honored with the junior category cup, and individual awards were given to outstanding players, organizing committees, and referees.
