Governor of Ibb and ICRC Head Discuss Humanitarian Needs and Flood Protection Efforts

Sanaa: Governor of Ibb, Abdulwahed Salah, engaged in discussions with Christine Cipolla, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Yemen, focusing on the humanitarian needs in the governorate and exploring ways to enhance the committee's interventions across different sectors.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Governor Rakan Al-Naqeeb and centered on reviewing the ICRC's activities in Ibb. Discussions highlighted the partnership with the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, aiming to alleviate humanitarian suffering and improve service levels in various sectors.

Governor Salah urged the ICRC to support efforts in a project designed to protect Ibb city from floods and to collaborate with donors for funding. This initiative is crucial due to the significant damage and losses caused by recurring floods in the past. He highlighted the project's importance in safeguarding the city and reducing risks to citizens and property.

He also pointed out the urgent need for expanded humanitarian interventions in Ibb, particularly in water and sanitation, healthcare facility support, and enhancing emergency response capacities to address crises and natural disasters effectively.

Christine Cipolla reassured the committee's commitment to continuing its activities in the governorate. She emphasized enhancing partnerships with local authorities, especially the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, to address humanitarian and emergency needs efficiently.
