Hajjah: Hajjah governor Hilal Al-Sufi, along with Province Undersecretary Ibrahim Amer, conducted a review of the ongoing work on the Al-Salqa and Sha'alal water projects in Washhah District.
According to Yemen News Agency, the governor's delegation included Deputy Mobilization Official for the Ahem districts Ahmed Al-Ghamari, Education Sector official Ali Al-Qutaib, Director of the Health Office Dr. Ahmed Al-Kuhlani, and District Director Abdulqaddous Al-Khalash. They assessed the progress made on the two projects, which are backed by the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit at the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development and implemented by the Rural Water Projects Authority.
Director of the Rural Water Projects Authority branch in the governorate, Saleh Al-Fallahi, provided a briefing on the completion of the first phase of the projects. This phase involved drilling two artesian wells. He also outlined the remaining work necessary for the completion of pumping systems, water tanks, and distribution networks.
Governor Al-Sufi emphasized the critical role of the Al-Salqa and Sha'alal projects in reducing water scarcity issues and providing safe drinking water to the communities, particularly in the mountainous regions facing acute shortages. He urged for the swift completion of the remaining phases to operationalize the projects promptly.
He instructed the Rural Water Projects Authority branch to formulate and present a plan detailing the subsequent phases, which should include the installation of solar power and pumping systems, storage tanks, and distribution networks. Coordination with the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit and other supporting organizations was also emphasized to ensure the projects' completion.
The governorate remains committed to backing water projects in Washhah and other underserved regions, aiming to meet their needs within the limits of available resources.
Local sheikhs and community leaders expressed their appreciation for the governorate's leadership and its proactive involvement in the projects, highlighting their significance in alleviating long-standing hardships faced by the communities.
