Sana'a: In commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), the Ministry of Public Health and Population has launched humanitarian initiatives that reflect the values of compassion and generosity inspired by the Prophet's life. These efforts went beyond ceremonial events to include practical steps aimed at serving patients and those in need.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry's initiatives included the establishment of free medical camps and the provision of healthcare services across hospitals and health centers. Acting on the directives of the Revolution Leader and the Supreme Political Council to care for the poor and vulnerable, the ministry began implementing exceptional health programs from the start of the month of Safar, seeking to ease the suffering of patients and bring relief and reassurance to them and their families.
Hospitals, both public and private, also expressed their devotion to the Prophet through significant discounts on medical services and the organization of volunteer medical camps that reached patients in their communities. As part of the celebrations, the Ministry inaugurated the mobile field hospital 'Al-Rasul Al-A'zam' (The Great Messenger Hospital), designed to expand access to healthcare, especially in underserved areas. In addition, several medical camps were launched across different governorates, supported by medical teams, ambulances, and field hospitals prepared to serve the crowds attending the Mawlid events.
Minister of Health and Population Dr. Ali Jiban told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the ministry's efforts during this occasion aim to highlight its humanitarian dimension by ensuring that the values of the Prophet-mercy, generosity, honesty, and dedication-are reflected in the way patients are treated. He explained that all health facilities have been instructed to provide care with compassion, particularly for the poor, to organize medical camps and reduce service fees.
The Minister noted that hospitals and health facilities have been placed on high alert to receive patients, praising their continuous efforts to provide and improve healthcare services despite challenging conditions. He further confirmed that health offices in Sana'a and all governorates have been directed to organize treatment and surgical camps, distribute medicines to patients with chronic illnesses, and ease the burdens of citizens suffering under the ongoing blockade and aggression.
He emphasized that the launch of the ministry's field hospital and medical camps is a step toward alleviating the suffering of patients, embodying the Islamic values of mercy, cooperation, and social solidarity, in line with the Leader of the Revolution's directives to strengthen charitable, relief, and humanitarian work.
The Minister of Health called on businessmen, philanthropists, and charitable organizations to contribute to supporting medical relief camps that provide free services to patients, stressing that such efforts are part of their social responsibility toward citizens-especially amid the difficult circumstances the country is facing as a result of the aggression and blockade.
For his part, Dr. Osama Al-Sharafi, Director General of the Emergency and Ambulance Department at the Ministry of Health, explained that the newly launched mobile field hospital, 'Al-Rasul Al-Azam Hospital,' was established as part of the Ministry's emergency response plan and strategy to develop health infrastructure and strengthen the system's ability to respond to crises.
He noted that the field hospital is expected to ease the pressure on fixed hospitals and provide timely, comprehensive medical services to citizens, describing its inauguration as an important step toward strengthening healthcare and meeting people's needs. Dr. Al-Sharafi added that the hospital aims to deliver urgent and effective medical care in underserved areas, thereby improving service quality and enhancing the Ministry's capacity to respond to emergencies. He pointed out that the hospital has been fully equipped and furnished, with specialized units including a blood bank, central laboratory, radiology department, operating theater, and observation and inpatient wards.
Since the beginning of the Islamic month of Safar 1447 AH, the Ministry of Health, together with hospitals and charitable associations, has organized numerous free medical camps across several provinces in celebration of the Prophet's Birthday.
In Hodeidah, the Community Health Care Association for Affected Populations, with support from the General Authority for Zakat, organized a medical camp at Al-Jarrahi Hospital specializing in ophthalmology. A total of 405 surgeries were performed, including 388 for cataracts, 14 for pterygium removal, and three other procedures, while services were provided to 1,174 patients.
Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Hodeidah also launched a free medical camp for patients with heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, providing consultations, medicines, and specialized advice in clinical pharmacy and therapeutic nutrition, along with a 50% discount on tests and echocardiograms. At 21 September Hospital in Hodeidah, another camp was held offering free consultations, diagnostics, and medications for heart, diabetes, and chronic disease patients.
In Al-Bayda Province, Al-Thawra General Hospital hosted a medical initiative in ophthalmology and audiology, offering free examinations for eyes, nose, and hearing, including eye testing with an autorefractor, audiometry, and ear endoscopy.
In Dhamar Province, Al-Nibras Health Association, funded by Kuwait's Bayt Al-Zakat, organized a free eye camp at Al-Sharq City Rural Hospital in Jabal Al-Sharq District, performing 250 cataract surgeries with lens implants for low-income patients.
In Sa'ada Province, the Republican General Hospital Authority organized a free medical camp for residents of the eastern districts, covering internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology. The Military Hospital also held a field camp providing consultations across specialties including internal medicine, neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, pediatrics, ENT, ultrasound, laboratory services, and radiology.
In the capital Sana'a, Palestine Maternity and Childhood Hospital organized a free camp for children at the Social Guidance Home for Juveniles in Al-Safia District, providing examinations, medical consultations, laboratory tests, and free medicines.
In Al-Mahwit Province, the 68th free eye camp was held at Bani Saad Rural Hospital, organized by the Community Health Care Association and funded by the General Authority for Zakat. The camp provided consultations for more than 1,500 patients and conducted surgeries for cataract removal, pterygium excision, and eyelid cyst removal.
In Sana'a Province, Aumrah Rural Hospital in Arhab District hosted a free surgical camp performing ENT operations (such as nasal septum correction and polyp removal), as well as hernia repairs, gallbladder and appendix removals, excision of cysts and glands, hemorrhoid surgery, and cleft lip repair.
In Hajjah Province, the Office of Health and Environment launched two free medical camps at the central prison and Aahim prison complex, offering healthcare services in various specialties and distributing medicines to inmates.
Through these blessed efforts, the health sector embodied the values of compassion with which the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent, making the commemoration of his noble birth an opportunity for good deeds and a true expression of love and adherence to his example.
