Hodeida Launches Awareness Campaign Against Diarrhea, Dengue, Malaria

Hodeida: The Health and Environment Office in Hodeida province has initiated an awareness campaign aimed at combating acute watery diarrhea, dengue fever, and malaria, alongside efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites in the districts of al-Hali, al-Hawk, and the Port.

According to Yemen News Agency, the eight-day campaign seeks to enhance community awareness regarding the risks, symptoms, and transmission of these epidemics. It also focuses on promoting preventive measures, including personal and environmental hygiene. During the launch, province undersecretary for Services Mohammed Halesi commended the Health Office's efforts. He emphasized that community awareness serves as the first line of defense against epidemics, particularly in current circumstances that demand collective effort.

Halesi reiterated the local authority's commitment to supporting the field teams' operations and encouraged citizens to adhere to health guidance to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Dr. Ali al-Haddad, Director of the Health and Environment Office, disclosed that the campaign comprises 130 health educators, 43 community initiative workers, and 15 rapid response teams. These teams will visit neighborhoods to dispense health instructions.

The campaign's focus will be on promoting personal and public hygiene, proper food handling, preventive health behaviors, and the elimination of standing water to minimize mosquito breeding. Dr. al-Haddad highlighted the importance of citizen engagement in significantly reducing infection and mortality rates.
