Sana'a: A comprehensive meeting was held on Thursday in Beit al-Faqih district of Hodeida governorate, chaired by Governor Abdullah Atifi, to discuss the final arrangements for launching a seed cleaning operation in the southern districts.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which was attended by Member of Parliament Ali Ghubri, Province Undersecretary Mutahhar al-Hadi, members of local councils, and a number of sheikhs, social figures, and farmers, addressed the mechanism for implementing the seed cleaning operation and the importance of concerted efforts by local authorities, cooperative societies, community leaders, and farmers to ensure its success.
During the meeting, Governor Atifi explained that launching this operation is part of the governorate's plan to improve agricultural inputs and increase the efficiency of local production. He considered providing clean, high-quality seeds, free from impurities, a fundamental step to enhance the expansion of grain production, reduce losses, and contribute to achieving food security and self-sufficiency.
The Governor of Hodeida urged community leaders, sheikhs, and dignitaries to play their role in raising awareness and mobilizing farmers to utilize seed cleaning machines before the start of the season. He commended the role of agricultural cooperatives as active development partners in organizing community efforts, serving farmers, and developing value chains.
Participants in the meeting emphasized the importance of community engagement in utilizing seed cleaning services, which contributes to providing clean, high-quality, and impurity-free seeds, improving agricultural inputs, and raising production levels and productivity. They indicated that seed cleaning operations will commence tomorrow, Friday, in the southern districts of Hodeida governorate, as part of a program aimed at promoting the use of clean and improved seeds and supporting efforts to develop value chains for grain crops and community-based processing.
They stressed the importance of strengthening the role of agricultural cooperatives as active development partners in serving farmers and organizing community efforts, which contributes to the success of the agricultural season, enhances local production, and supports efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and food security.
