Hodeida: Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi met on Wednesday with Stephanie Donde Jamo, Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East at Doctors Without Borders, and Project Coordinator Consta Pescacco, to discuss the level of medical interventions in the health sector in the governorate and prospects for expanding them to improve healthcare services provided to citizens.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which was also attended by Province undersecretaries for Culture and Media, Ali Qashar, and for Services, Mohammed Halisi, reviewed ongoing medical projects in several hospitals and health facilities, the organization's plans for new interventions, and the level of services provided.
The discussion also touched upon the planned intervention project at Al-Duhay Hospital, which aims to enhance its capacity to provide medical care and meet patients' needs. Governor Atifi emphasized the importance of the partnership with Doctors Without Borders in supporting the health sector, praising the humanitarian organization's efforts and interventions in developing medical services.
He noted the local authority's commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure the success of health projects and the achievement of their humanitarian goals. Meanwhile, the Director of the Provincial Health Office, Dr. Ali Al-Haddad, and his deputy, Nashwan Ahmed, presented a matrix of the urgent needs of hospitals and health centers in the province.
They emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership with Doctors Without Borders to address the shortage of medical supplies and improve the quality of services provided in rural and remote areas. For her part, the organization's Regional Vice President for the Middle East affirmed its continued commitment to providing medical services and strengthening current and future interventions, including al-Dhahi Hospital project, to ensure the continuity and improvement of health services for the community.
She expressed her appreciation for the support provided to Doctors Without Borders teams by the provincial leadership in this regard.
