Hodeida: Hodeida province's first undersecretary, Ahmed al-Bishri, convened with Nicolas von Arx, the Regional Director for the Near and Middle East of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The meeting, attended by Christine Shibola, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Yemen, and Jaber al-Razihi, Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society branch in the governorate, concentrated on addressing urgent humanitarian and health needs in the area, with a focus on strengthening emergency interventions.
According to Yemen News Agency, al-Bishri commended the ICRC's efforts, emphasizing the necessity of bolstering interventions in health, water, and environmental sanitation amidst the governorate's challenging circumstances, which include combating epidemics and diseases. The Regional Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society Hodeidah Branch acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the ICRC, local authorities, and the Society's branch, highlighting the significant role played by the Society in the region.
Dr. Abdulkarim Saloul, National Coordinator for Organizational Development and Development Department of the Yemeni Red Crescent Societies, praised the branch's institutional commitment in Hodeidah. He underscored the importance of training and qualifying volunteers, which is fundamental to sustainable humanitarian efforts.
The discussion also stressed the need to enhance joint coordination to ensure that support effectively reaches the needy and to explore new avenues of cooperation in health, water, and emergency response in the forthcoming phase.
